About the event
Join KPC, Burton's & Siema Wines for a Journey to South
Africa!
Sponsored by Kentlands Resident Denise Burcksen and Luxury Travel Adventures Agency
South Africa has been on the verge of a wine breakout for several years now, with increasingly consistent and delicious wines. Nick the Wine Guy is such a believer he spent two years promoting SA wines on the "African Queen 2"-a 35 foot wine lounge on wheels! . Luxury Travel Expert, Denise Burcksen agrees! Africa is a magical place to explore, with incredible sights and tremendous hospitality everywhere you go.
KPC inspired this first wine dinner at Burton's by bringing all these great people together. "Chef Nick" & Carlos of Burton's have created a brilliant five course menu while "Nick the Wine guy" has chosen some fantastic wine pairings. Ms. Burcksen will weave tales of the people, places and food of South Africa. It will truly be a night to remember.
Menu:
{B}urton's Five Course South African Wine Dinner
1) "Biltong"
Inspired by one of South Africa 's most beloved snacks Traditionally spiced beef sliced thinly on top of toasted crostini with aged gouda cheese. The flavor of the gouda blends perfectly with the smokiness of the beef and the perfect compliment of the crostini crunch.
2) Tomato Bredie
A savory stew made from tomatoes, lamb, and various spices such as cinnamon, ginger, and chili. This hearty dish is sure to warm up anyone on a cold night. The rich, comforting aroma will attract your attention and the bright tomato punch will accent the warm hearth spices.
3) Ahi Tuna Salad
Fresh sushi grade tuna, mango, avocado, and greens tossed in a sesame ginger vinaigrette garnished with sesame seeds. The fatty flavor of the tuna will pair with the umami flavor profile coming from the vinaigrette. A light course flooded with flavor.
4) Sosaties
Lamb kebobs marinaded with chilies, curry leaves, garlic, tamarind juice, and onion. Grilled over open flame while being brushed with the marinade to create a glaze. Served over a rice pilaf.
5) Melktart
A sweet tart made of a milk filling and a flaky crust--similar to a light, fluffy cheesecake. Garnished with a dusting of cinnamon. A rich, but light on it's feet way to end our fantastic meal.
